2015 Alternative Spring Break
Just a very quick video of what we did while on the 2015 Alternative Spring Break.
Breakfast & Discussions with Representatives from the East Central Synod of Wisc.
We had an awesome time with Bishop Jerry Manscholt and Diane Clark from the East Central Synod as they joined 5 of our young adults as well as myself. The synod held 3-hour sessions with each conference recently called “Spirit led, Spirit shaped – a journey together. The intent of those gatherings were an important step in a Spirit-led process of shaping the synod to participate more deeply in God’s mission in the world.” The bishop also made it clear that the feedback from youth and young adults was also just as important. This past Saturday, members of our ministry had the pleasure of sharing their thoughts, concerns and vision for the future of our church. And because of their great input, the bishop has invited each of them to also participate in the March 14 Synod Council retreat and meeting where council, synod staff and guests will Dwell in the Word once again, listen deeply to what has come about from all these conversations.
We Need Your Support!
The last year has provided us immense opportunities of growth through our service to others. We have seen our worship services double. We have been blessed with a strong and vibrant staff and board, and we are even more blessed to be preparing to welcome 3,600 incoming freshmen to UW Oshkosh in just a few short weeks.
While we have continued to grow our family, we have doubled our worship services. This means that we have also doubled the amount of home cooked dinners that we prepare for students who come for a welcoming meal, and to hear God’s word. While the year has provided us with incredible opportunities, insurmountable growth potential and a commitment to self and community; we have been challenged throughout this incredible journey. As the purpose for our need grows, we continue to face the financial realities – our financial support has continued to lessen. Unlike a church, this young adult congregation is unable to financially support this ministry. Therefore The Gathering Place must find its own sources of income and support. And, we cannot do it without your support.
Please consider donating today. Your financial support today helps us to maintain normal operations, and continue to support the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of students throughout Oshkosh. We ask that you do what your heart sings. Share with your parishioners, your Church Council and consider supporting your youth ministry today.
