For three years I've been blessed to be part of The Gathering Place family. It was more than a few years ago when I actually went to UWO myself - but it does seem like yesterday. My husband Rick and I have a small lakefront home in Fond du Lac. We have two teenage girls who are well on their way to becoming young adults. Sometimes you may see my dog Nina sharing her special ministry of fellowship right here on campus. Prior to my call into this ministry, I worked as a writer and video producer in Milwaukee. You may ask if this was a drastic career change for me. Well... yes and no. For I have come to see that ministry can happen just about anywhere, at anytime with any one. Sure the environment is a little different, but the mission is always the same -- "Making Christ Known".

The one thing that I've discovered about this special ministry is that it fills a gap so desperately needed in our church communities today. Following graduation, young adults move out and move on either with work or further education. But so often there is a disconnect from an active and supported faith life. I see how busy life can be both on and off campus and the pressures -- they are there too. And so are we. We are home away from home for so many. In fact, we're one big family. Yea, we're a pretty diverse group - but we have one thing in common - Jesus.

If you haven’t stopped in yet… come check us out.  The Gathering Place  - where everyone is welcome. And we mean that! There are some really strong activities that go on here.  Starting in fall – all the way throughout the school year, you have the chance to hang out, worship, serve, play, eat and yes, even travel.  Come in for a cup of coffee, take a break or get spiritually fed.  Hey, it’s up to you. 

The school experience is a unique one.  And we’re here to be both salt and light to that experience. Being led by the Spirit can bring many benefits.  One benefit may be the chance to get to know you!
